Award films, brand worlds and the content engine

Four award-recognised student and spec projects, plus the paid and organic work I ship at TechSmith every week.

Artist's Incense

In an official collaboration between Michigan State and Google, I was one of three advertising students handpicked to write and direct an experimental ad. I chose incense — then researched brands that fit the concept and brought Looshi on as a real collaborator.

I oversaw the whole production and directed a crew of seven, worked with the DP on framing, scouted locations for tone, and sat in the edit bay.

No One Listens Like You

The brief was to withhold the brand and the core message until the final moment.

Everyone around you could be listening to something completely different — a meditative podcast, death metal, Beyoncé. That is the magic of music, and Spotify is the platform that backs your taste.

Are You Smarter Than ChatGPT?

The brief was a long-form advertisement. I took the shape of Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader? and pointed it at the fear everyone actually has: that AI will outpace them.

Basic-knowledge questions that some people miss, and that ChatGPT vastly over-explains. It argues for working with AI to find information rather than handing the whole job over.

Kaiju Fizz

The brief was to build a brand around your “freak” — the specific interest that makes you who you are. Mine is classic Japanese kaiju cinema from the 1950s through the 1990s: enormous spectacle and real thematic weight pulled off on a tight budget with serious craft.

Kaiju Fizz turns that into a soda. Instead of a radioactive lizard, radioactive fruit — Atomic Grape, Meltdown Orange, Radioactive Citrus. The artwork answers to Noriyoshi Ohrai’s Heisei Godzilla posters, and it is built to jump off a shelf at fans and non-fans alike.

Rebuilding the Camtasia YouTube channel

The channel exists to show where Camtasia sits against its competitors and to teach people how to actually use it. I started building long-form for it in November 2025 and shipped the first video that December.

Since then I have edited 7 long-form videos, scripted 15, built thumbnails for 7, handled SEO on 8, been on camera for 3, and helped record and review 16. I also time launches to the customer email sends so the two reinforce each other in the algorithm.

  • 50,000+ organic views from long-form, aimed at trainers, educators and corporate teams
  • 1,500+ hours of watch time, averaging 1:41 per video
  • Cut the slate from 104 videos to 50 and still grew long-form views 13.8% year over year

Ads built for the scroll

Upper-funnel through lower-funnel: broad brand awareness at one end, high-intent conversion at the other. The audience is corporate L&D professionals and trainers, so the hook has to earn the first second and the feature has to land by the third.

Cut in Premiere Pro and Camtasia, delivered as variations for A/B testing across YouTube, Instagram and Facebook.

TechSmith · Motion graphics

Motion that keeps people on the page

These run on Camtasia and Snagit landing pages. The goal is to cut bounce and lift engagement — they have been A/B tested against still images and they win — while showing a feature working instead of describing it.

TechSmith · Organic social

Vertical work across ten accounts

I have made organic content for every TechSmith account since May 2024 — Camtasia, Snagit and TechSmith across Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, Facebook and LinkedIn.

As the company moved toward corporate and enterprise buyers, I shifted the work toward LinkedIn while keeping Shorts feeding the Camtasia channel. The mix is evergreen mini-mic content, trending sounds, and pieces that show what the company is actually like to work at.

  • 100K+ YouTube Shorts views with 1.5K+ engagements
  • 600K+ further organic views and 9K+ engagements across the other platforms
  • 25+ short-form videos produced during the internship alone, at 1K–25K+ views each

Conference graphics, in the room
